- The Set-Up 2 Premieres:
Sequel to Niyi Akinmolayan’s 2019 crime thriller ‘The Set Up’, ‘The Set Up 2’ premiered in Lagos on Tuesday, 9th August. The highly anticipated movie is a joint project by Inkblot and frequent collaborators, FilmOne and Anakle Films. The Premiere which was attended by many big Nollywood acts showed an array of celebrities adorned in various classy outfits. ‘The Set Up’ lead characters are played by Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Nancy Isime and Kehinde Bankole. Chinaza Onuzo wrote and directed the movie, and Kate Henshaw, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Stan Nze, Lota Chukwu, and Lilian Afegbai are among the new cast members.


It hits cinemas nationwide on August 12, 2022.

- Legendary Filmmaker, Playwright, & Director, Biyi Bandele Passes On At 54.
Legendary Nollywood fillmmaker, Biyi Bandele passed on at 54 on Sunday 7th August. Before his demise, he was a prolific author, playwright and filmmaker whose work includes the adaptation of famed Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Half of a Yellow Sun starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton. His death was announced in a statement signed by his daughter Temi Bandele. Bandele grew up in the northwestern Nigerian town of Kafanchan, Kaduna State, he left Nigeria, moving to London at 22 after studying drama at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria. Bandele also co-directed the Netflix hit Blood Sisters. The streaming platform paid tribute to him in a twitter calling his passing “a monumental loss to Nigeria’s film and creative industry.” He was announced as the director of the new Netflix and Ebonylife TV co-production Elesin Oba, The King’s Horseman the screen adaptation of Wole Soyinka’s stage play Death and the King’s Horseman, and is set to premier at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022.

- Mary Remmy Njoku & Jason Njoku Are Getting Married Again
Mary Remmy Njoku is getting married for the second time in a few days—to her husband, Jason Njoku, to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
The Nollywood actress and her husband, who is the co-founder and CEO of iROKOtv, who married in Lagos on August 18, 2012, are planning their second wedding in The Maldives, which would be attended by their close friends. Mary Njoku’s close friends spotted on her bridal train are Mary Lazarus, Uche Ogbodo, Moyo Lawal, and Emmanuella Remmy.
They are the proud parents of three children: Jason, born in 2013, Annabelle, born in 2015, and Amber, born in 2017.
