AY’S ‘THE WAITER’ SHOWS GROWTH IN MOVIE PRODUCTION BY THE POPULAR ACTOR AND COMEDIAN

When I watched Ayo Makun’s (AY) Merry Men 1 and 2, I ended the movie almost half-way due to an almost boring watch. I also might say I endured seeing Merry Men 3. So, when I saw the trailer for The Waiter, it felt intriguing and I was interested to see it despite my past experiences with AY’s movies. Well, I saw The Waiter, and I must definitely say this is AY’s best movie yet.

The waiter tells the story of a Government Minister who is about launching a Poverty Alleviation scheme to ‘help’ the community, which would cause the Federal Government disbursing funds, this move is considered a plot for theft, and a armed Citizenry Rights Group launch a plan to hijack the disbursement process and transfer the money directly to citizens. All these happen at the press conference held by the Minister in an event hall, where she and her cabinet are held hostage and the group make plans to disburse the funds directly to the citizens. What happens at this point of kidnap? Well, you should find out for yourself. “The Waiter” shows at the cinemas.

One obvious thing is that AY has grown in movie production. The waiter was balanced in the storyline and the filming process, there were no gaps in the storyline, and no obvious unnecessary scenes. I loved the way we were introduced to Akpos’ (Ayo Makun) fighting skills. The conversations in the movie were also entertaining and engaging. Now, Bucci Franklin(Tonye Bright), OMG! That was astounding, Bucci Frankiln continually increases his film worth, he seemed as though Bucci Franklin took his role and chew every piece of it to shreds, the acting was superb.

Making an action thriller in Nollywood can be challenging, but AY definitely had a tidy and detailed production, the fight scenes were well acted and the SFX also made the scenes pleasing to watch.

It would also be important to mention Chris Attoh also, how did he pull off the American accent that good? He literally made us believe he was an American, the accent was so soothing to hear, it would have been easy to hear fake accents which would have been so distasteful to the ears.

Amidst a well done movie, it was quite noticeable that Toke Makinwa’s (Inspector Zika) role was not well thought of, the seeming carelessness to have her manicure on in Police uniform was not good to watch, I believe paramilitary officers are not expected to have nails fixed. The nails should have been removed for her role.

The way the movie ends though, it does look like we could have a part 2 later, and if what we saw in this is what we are expecting to see in a part 2, please, kindly bring it on!

Actors in this are: Bucci Franklin, Ayo Makun, Shaffy Bello, Deyemi Okanlawon, Regina Daniels, Toke Makinwa, Rahama Sadau, Boma Akpore, Chris Attoh, Kunle Remi, Tanya Price, Uchemba Williams, and a few others.

The movie was Directed by Toka McBaror and Produced by Ayo Makun, the movie was released on December 20,2024.

From All of Us at RealNollywood, we rate the movie 86%.
