LOCKDOWN

by

‘Lockdown’ is a movie which tells a story of six strangers forced into isolation as a result of a pandemic. As tensions rise, their stories intertwine.

‘Lockdown’ draws a lot of inspiration from the unpleasant events of 2014 complete with a questionable scene where Dr Alexis Njoku comes in close contact with a Libyan patient infected with the fictional Holovirus.

Omotola seemingly becomes the centre-piece of the story as Doctor Njoku. She immediately contacts the centre for disease and control upon discovering the Libyan national’s ailment then proceeds to save the day by ordering a lockdown to contain people who have come in contact with the carrier. She is at the centre of a catastrophic pandemic, reliving the turmoil of Stella Adedavoh, the brave doctor who saved millions of Nigerians from an Ebola virus outbreak.

The movie released in 2021 in cinemas, and on Netflix in August 2022 could also be said to ride on the timing of the infamous lockdown period which ravaged the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Although, jettisoning some unimpressive special effects displaying injuries and the VFX effects, the cinematography can be said to be given pass mark

Directed by Moses Inwang, and distributed by Filmone, ‘Lockdown’ boasts of an array of Nollywood stars such as Omotola Jalade Ekeinde, Sola Sobowale, Tony Umez, Ben Touitou, Ini Dima Okojie, Deyemi Okanlawon, Jide Kene Achufusi, Chioma Akpotha, and many more, also starring ace comedian Josh2funny

Stand Out Performer – All. Unusually, the cast in this movie all did absolutely well. What we always want to see is that realness and relatable experience with characters. The viewer wants to feel the life in each character, and this did they do well. Oh! Josh2funny really did portray the plight of almost every frustrated Nigerian youth, great acting!

Can do well Performer- Well, understanding Peter Okoye ‘Mr P’ is not an established actor, we can cut him some slack here.
