OMO GHETTO: THE SAGA

by

Omo Ghetto: The Saga also known as Omo Ghetto 2 is a Nigerian tragicomedy, a sequel to the 2010 released Omo Ghetto. This movie chronicles a story about Lefty who, together with her squad from the ghetto, was always getting into one trouble or the other. As luck would have it, fortune smiled on Lefty and she was adopted alongside her twin sister, Ayomide, by the lovely Mrs Benson and moved to an upper-class neighborhood. Irrespective of all the affluence and the new luxurious change in environment, Lefty still finds herself going back to the ghetto, falls in love in the ghetto and keeps getting in trouble. Eventually, she gets into one very big trouble with which she tries very hard to get out of.
You should see the movie.

A Sceneone production directed by JJC Skills & Funke Akindele. The movie had its theatrical release on December 25th, 2020 and was opened to extremely positive reviews even from critics. The truth is this is a movie that’s very hard to draw negatives out from, the production really lived up to contemporary standard.

The plot of this movie was awesome, the fact that the movie had a lot of intrigue in almost every scene makes it delightful to the eyes and mind. The movie really did have a sophisticated story line as at some point it was difficult to predict what was going to happen next. The continuity was also great as every scene connected in sequence.
The movie also had great screenplay and cinematography, the fight scenes really did look prolific, it’s impressive that most Nigerian filmmakers are really going top notch. Great HD/4K filming

The cast was also great, as a matter of fact, the cast is one of the best if not the best to have come out of Nollywood in a long while, not just the calibre of the cast, but the delivery as well. A movie with Funke Akindele(Ayomide & Lefty), Tina Mba(Mrs Benson), Adebayo Salami(Baba onibaba), Chioma Akpotha(Chummy Choko),Bimbo Thomas(Nikky), Eniola Badmus(Busty), Zubby Michael(Aza Man) , Deyemi Okanlawon(Stone), etc and with star acts as comedian Ayo Makun, singer Yemi Alade, Broda Shaggi, Toke Makinwa and Naira Marley who had a cameo appearance just tells you of the intent of the producers. The movie really did make a hit and statement!

Star performer: Funke Akindele
Who else but Funke Akindele, Funke Akindele did a great job as she pulled a maestro delivering two contrasting personalities, acting as a most reserved character “Ayomide” and a hooliganistic character “Lefty” with such excellence is really really commendable. Also her switch of accents, personality and body language was amazing! Though take nothing away from the other casts they all did impeccable as well, but Funke Akindele sits on this!

Can do better performer: None. All did so well
